GARDEN and POOL MAINTENANCE
Generally our garden service comes on Tuesday in the summer and will stay for
an hour or so to clean the pool and water the plants. If you have a spare
moment in the summer months please feel free to sprinkle the plants with some
aqua vitae. In the desert heat they may become a little parched. The cacti on
the other hand prefer little water as they get their kicks from the sunshine
and like to struggle.
POOL
Available 24 hours a day but please be conscious of the neighbours.
Skinny-dipping is the world's best therapy but also beware of offending the
neighbours particularly if your skin may blind the onlookers.
SECURITY
Prince Albert is very safe but like anywhere in this modern world it is always best
to be cautious. The door to the car park area can be locked at night and you
will be very self-contained. Please lock doors and close windows when leaving
the house for an extended period. The outside lights automatically go on at
dusk.
BREAKAGES
We operate an honour system based on trust. If you break something please leave
an appropriate amount to replace the breakage. Not everything in this world
requires a security deposit.
NOISE
Visitors come to Prince Albert
for the peace and tranquillity so enjoy the place with that in mind. It is very
restful but that doesn't stop you listening to a bit of ambient groove (but at
a restful volume so as not to disturb the vines making Soetkaroo next door).
WHITE SOFAS!
Perhaps not the best colour for a self-catering cottage.....but they look nice!
Any lounging around, please use the sarongs that hang over the back. Dirty feet
marks are a pain in the behind to remove.
USING GAS RINGS - WARNING!
The gas rings can be a little violent and are in the cupboard next to the sink.
Instructions are on inside of door. Make sure the gas bottle is switched on.
Put a match above the ring and then slowly turn the gas on to light the flame.
If you put a light to the rings after turning the gas it tends to be too much
at once.
GAS
Should the gas run out. please change the cylinder in the cupboard, and let one
of us know that you have done so. Turn off gas before unscrewing the regulator.
GLASS TABLE IN BETWEEN SOFAS
Please take care of the glass, it will cost over R1000.00 to replace, which
will be for the visitors account if broken.
DAY BED
There are mattresses, pillows and cushions inside. Please try and keep these
clean and bring them in each evening to avoid the dew and the rain.

ESSENTIALS of PRINCE ALBERT
Cactus Blue is located within walking distance of all the
village amenities.
· SHOPPING
The SPAR Supermarket caters for all needs in the main road, although supplies
are sometimes a bit sparse in certain sectors. There is a good butcher opposite
the National Centre. A wide range of dairy products is available from Gay's
Dairy, including cheese, milk and yogurt.
· WINE
Gordon's Drinkstore offers a wide range of quality local wines, beers, spirits
& mixers. It is staggering distance from the cottage, located inside the
National Centre.
· RESTAURANTS
Prince Albert
has a great selection of restaurants across the spectrum of tastes. Bokkie at
The Olive Branch is inevitably fully booked when he decides to open and is a
lovely experience. The Karoo Kombuis is rather eccentric and a fun Karoo outing.
· WINE TASTING
Soetkaroo (next door) offers tastings from the smallest registered vineyard in
the country.
Bergwater Vineyards is 21 km east of Prince
Albert. Call 023 541 1703 to arrange a visit.

1. Playing DVDs
· Turn on TV
· Turn on DVD player
· Insert DVD and press play
· The TV should be tuned to the DVD player automatically
· Use remote for DVD to move forward on DVD as you would normally
